A tribute to Richard “Rick” A. Larsen, Sr., born on November 30, 1956 in Orange County, CA, died on June 25, 2017 in Windsor, CA. Rick and his family lived in Sonoma County for over 50 years. Predeceased by his parents, Richard “Dick” Larsen, (Former Fire Chief of Windsor) and Kathryn Larsen.
Rick attended St. John’s Elementary School in Healdsburg, CA where he was awarded a basketball scholarship to Cardinal Newman for a year. He graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1974.
Rick worked for Boise Cascade, The Press Democrat, Capital Lumber, Friedman Brothers and Mead Clark Insulation. He never missed a day of work and put his all into his job.
Rick was an avid 49er fan and his favorite baseball team was the San Francisco Giants. He was an outfielder/catcher on his softball teams and played for Grants Trucking and Healdsburg Lumber. An active outdoorsman thrill seeker, he enjoyed boating, kayaking, hiking, motorcycles in his younger years and skydiving in his later. Rick loved to dance to classic rock and roll tunes and was always the life of the party with his incredible sense of humor and outrageous Halloween costumes. His smile and personality would light up the room. Rick was very handy in the kitchen and enjoyed baking dessert for the Old School Windsor Reunions. He had a heart of gold that would lend a hand to anyone in need. Devoted to his kids and grandchildren, he would attend all of their activities and cheer the loudest. He will be forever in our hearts.
He is survived by his children: Jessica Hollingsworth-Miller (Carl), Tiffany Adams-Glaze (Josh) and Richard A. Larsen Jr. (Mari). Grandchildren: Asiah, Jace, Sophia and Hailey; his siblings: Cindi Thompson (Dale), JoAnn Rousey, Randy Larsen and John Larsen. Nieces and nephews: Sarah Parriott, Deedee Cardoza, Jonathan Thompson and Richard Rousey.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Windsor-Healdsburg Mortuary, 9660 Old Redwood Highway, Windsor CA. Burial will be held at theSRMP Shiloh Annex Cemetery, 1750Shiloh Road, in Windsor.
