Not so golden results

The 2016 campaigns and election are finally over, thank God. Not since the 1860 election of Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War, has a post-election America been more divided. Seldom has more debate, protest and howling been subsumed with so little nourishment or constructive results.

Are you miffed or relieved that the major social media platforms banned former President Donald Trump? I was relieved at first, then slightly miffed about the idea of a private company muzzling a public figure, then I decided that we’re arguing about the wrong thing.

Decoding Teenagers: The Need for Speed

A few months back, I wrote a column about a lake adventure we were going to take this summer. The lake we chose is in Wisconsin where my father-in-law has a cabin and a couple of boats, the tubing gear and other such lake toys.

A river runs through us

We love our Russian River for its eternal beauty, its nurturing forces, its quenching properties, its recreation and play and its renewing spirits. We love our river — except when we don’t. And right now we are distraught over the destruction its breached muddy torrents visited upon us yet again.
