EX LIBRIS

We are wrapping up another summer here at the Healdsburg Library. Wow, it has been a busy summer with our annual summer reading program expanding to include children, teens and adults for the first time.

Playing with fire

Now that it’s June and we’re past Memorial Day and local schools are closed for summer vacations, we can all break out our BBQ grills, outdoor RV equipment, camping gear and backyard mowing tools.

Snapshot: Spring Is Sprung

Healdsburg’s fields and gardens are filled with flowers that a snapshot can’t display.. As if on cue, sunshine and flowers broke out for spring’s March 15th debut. Cherry blossoms, fields of daffodils (Narcissus) and yards with calla lilies (Zantedeschia aethiopica).

How Windsor got its name

“How did Windsor get its name?” This question probably crosses the mind of most every inhabitant of our town at one point or another. However, the historical narrative of the town’s name is often unknown to Windsorites, and some people who think they know the story have some misconceptions. Most people are familiar with the name “Hiram Lewis” (think Hiram Lewis Park), but are in the dark regarding his history and the origins of our town’s name.

A journalist’s toolbox

It’s the job of all journalists to tell the truth. Some of us are better at this than others. And, sadly, there are many people today who claim to be journalists and are not. Worse, way too many people mistake people they see on TV or in their Facebook feed as real journalists. All of this is making the job of professional journalists tougher and tougher by the day. The way you can tell who is a real journalist and who isn’t can be found in the tools, methods and sources they use to uncover the news, check the facts and report with total fairness.

Windsor Dems: Green New Deal Forum
