Decoding Teenagers: Fast Lane
This past weekend was my Mom’s 72nd birthday. We celebrated with a girls-only brunch and an afternoon of scouting out vintage stores. As we savored our last few sips of coffee after our meal, we got to talking about the world that she grew up in and how much different things are today.

Let’s Book It
Last Monday was Duffy’s day for Read to a Dog. As a little boy was poring over a book about trains and other tykes were petting my pup, we could hear bursts of high-spirited laughter erupting from the Forum Room next door. Ah—“The noblest art is that of making others happy.” (P.T. Barnum) And the magician was doing just that, by enchanting kids and adults alike!
Decoding Teenagers: Old fashioned
Do you remember your first crush? I do, it was in 8th grade, that final year before high school and adventures beyond. A first crush is kind of like a rite of passage.
Decoding Teenagers: Life 101

Ok, be nice Elizabeth, don’t insult him. I had to handle this situation correctly as it was a very delicate one.

The internet is how Zuckerberg became a multi-billionaire. If he’s not happy about too much hacking, trolling, fake news and loss of privacy,...
Summer is a great time to prepare for Kindergarten
This year, as summer begins, after 25 years as principal at Mattie Washburn, I will be retiring. It has been a pleasure and an honor to be a part of the Windsor community for so many years. The support of the families and community members has been amazing. Mattie has been such a special place to work because of the amazing staff and incredible volunteers. I have so many special memories that I will carry with me.
Battling ballot taxes
When we look at our Sonoma County ballot for the Nov. 8 election with the many individual tax increases we wonder why some items are missing. County leaders want us to raise our taxes for parks, libraries and tourist activities to upkeep “the luxury of living in a world class destination.”
