The goal for most participants a the NCS REQ was a top seven finish, good for advancement to the prestigious Meet of Champions on May 18 at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. In all, Windsor qualified five athletes in six events to the MOC, an outstanding showing for the team.Ā Ā
ā€œIt was another fun one for the Jags,ā€ WHS coach Brandon Bronzan said of the NCS REQ. ā€œEarly in the season we talked about peaking at the end of the season, running our best times in May, and the team took that to heart.ā€
Leading the way for the Jaguars was senior distance star Lucas Chung, who logged MOC qualifying efforts in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter events. His time of 4:17.67 in the 1,600 meters placed him fourth overall and shattered his own school record in the event. Chung also placed fifth in the 3,200 meters in a fast 9:33.15.
Also moving on to the MOC was talented senior Vince Corday, who captured first place in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in a personal best 39.56. Setting the pace for the varsity girls was junior sprinter Kendall Campos, who obliterated the school mark in the 200 meters in a sizzling 26.37. The mark earned her third place, while also finishing sixth in the 100 meters in a MOC qualifying time of 13.01.Ā Ā
