Former Sebastopol resident Ray L. Spillers, 88, died in his
Windsor home on Jan. 13. Born in Healdsburg, he went to Sebastopol
Grammar and Analy High schools. He worked for O’Leary Funeral Home
in Sebastopol which he bought in ’44 with partner Lloyd Hayes and
ran the funeral home and Sebastopol Evergreen Lawn Cemetery until
their retirement in ’76. He was a member of the Gold Ridge Star
#161 Order of Eastern Star, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed
working in his wood shop and vegetable garden. He is survived by
his wife, Edith Spillers of Windsor, and his children Nancy Stange
and her husband, Roger of Grass Valley, Kay Banks and her husband,
Sam of Sebastopol and Jon Spillers and his wife, Laura of Trinidad,
four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be
held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 16 at Parent-Sorensen in Sebastopol.
