Going under the Highway 101 bridge on Mill Street west of Healdsburg’s roundabout, passersby may have noticed an RV parked there that was tagged with racist terms and pro-Trump slogans.
The language was later spray-painted over again with graffiti on Feb. 12, this time containing explicit language against hate.
California Highway Patrol has stated that the vehicle has been marked as abandoned and it will be towed at the latest on the morning of Feb. 13, and as early as the evening of Feb. 12. The vehicle was first reported as abandoned over the Feb. 8 weekend. There is a 72-hour minimum time to allow the owner of the vehicle to move it.
Beyond this, there isn’t anything CHP can do regarding the graffiti. There are no suspects as of press time and CHP has not been able to contact the owner. Since the RV is private property, CHP cannot remove the graffiti.
CHP said that the graffiti does not elevate to the level of a hate crime since there is not a specific victim targeted by the speech.
There are no related incidents to this graffiti, CHP reported.
