Editor: I am a builder/developer living in Healdsburg and
working in Sonoma County. I have been in business in the local area
since 1968.
I question the need for the Community Impact Report (CIR) in our
community. The concept that “someone else will pay for it “ is one
of the causes of our present financial situation on the local,
state, and national arena. Our Planning Commission and the CIty
Council have done a good job in the past and will continue to do
their job or we can vote for someone else.
Other communities have found that the money behind the groups
that advocate such reports are the unions. The unions are intent on
developing situations where only union companies can bid on the
project under study.
Again — someone else will pay initially, but we, as the
community of Healdsburg, will eventually pay for these increased
costs.
