Editor: Having lived in Healdsburg for a long time and seen the
changes, the worst change is the poor excuse for a paving job done
on some of the streets like Center Street, Grant Street, and March
Avenue, to name a few. This surface is worse than some dirt roads I
have driven on, and they were smoother. There are bumps that have
not been leveled prior to resurfacing, some portions already have
been dug up for repairs as on the corner of Fitch Street and Grant
Street, and repair surface left bumpy. There is noise coming from
the surface when inside a vehicle, and rough on tires. Riding a
bicycle on the newly paved streets can hardly be endured with large
pebbles everywhere, and rough surface, plus skate boarding
impossible and now sometimes done on sidewalks which is not safe
for pedestrians either.
It is understood that money is very tight right now, but maybe
this project should have been delayed until there is money for a
proper job with a good smooth surface. The streets should have been
patched instead for the interim until money is available for that.
The company who did this should not be in the business of
paving.
