Editor: The City was trying to save money once again, by having
inferior substandard improvements done on our city roads, thus
placing the expense on the residents.
The chip seal work on Center Street, and March Ave. is
substandard and is already breaking up with one good rain. Did
anyone look at the Contractor’s resume? How about references? I
personally watched them put down the oil and gravel on Center
Street. It’s like they were rushing against the clock to get it
done.
The chip seal done on Westside Road a few years ago, has pot
holes in it already. The entire “new” surface is coming apart with
a couple of good rains. (Remember the City dug up the road to
install a new water line?)
The section of Westside Road farther down past Madrona Manor is
coming apart after just a few months.
They haven’t even striped it yet and it’s falling apart.
Why doesn’t the City Public Works director understand this? It
ends up costing the City much more to do all the repairing,
especially when there’s another shortfall in the budget.
On well traveled roads, PAVING is the only way to go. Chip
sealing should be left for private driveways.
