A win for seventh grade girls is this week’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Church’s Catholic Youth Organization game of the week. Coach Dave Avila’s girls squad held on for the 28-27 victory over St. Vincent of Petaluma. The win improved the team’s record to 6-3 in their quest to repeat as division champions.

A’anna Ortiz-Gaitan came out hot and scored six first quarter points as the local team raced to a 17-6 halftime lead. They held an eight-point advantage entering the final quarter but had to stave off St. Vincent’s comeback to get the win.

Ortiz-Gaitan and Taylor Boyce each had ten points to lead all scorers. Christell McCormick followed with four. Tianna Towery and Amelia Klauenburch rounded out the OLG scoring with two points apiece.

This weekend is the final round of North Bay CYO regular season play. Playoff games will be held at Windsor Middle School on Saturday. The public is invited to attend all games.
