Another Our Lady of Guadalupe Church comeback victory was the highlight of this week’s North Bay Catholic Youth Organization play. This time it was coach Scott Simkins’ fifth grade team that rallied to win the game in the final seconds. They defeated Rohnert Park’s St. Elizabeth Seton by a 42-40 final score.
St. Elizabeth held a solid 20-13 halftime lead, then Josh Geist exploded for 11 points in the third quarter to help cut the lead to 30-28 entering the final frame. Nico Bartolomei poured in six points in the fourth to lead the locals to the win.
Geist’s 11 made him the game’s top scorer. Bartolomei followed with 10. Joe Ceja and Gabe Gutierrez each scored six. Easton Wriedt (4 points), Micah Sanders (3 three points) and Liam West (two points) rounded out the OLG scoring as they ran their NBCYO record to 3-4.
OLG plays their home games at Windsor Middle School on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. For more information please send an email to
