Last weekend all 25 Our Lady of Guadalupe teams returned to the hardwood after the Christmas break. This week’s Game of the Week was a nail biter in fifth grade boys North Bay Catholic Youth Organization play. OLG’s furious comeback came up one point short in the 24-23 loss to St. Sebastian of Sebastopol.
Coach Robert Murray’s squad showed a “never give up” attitude after falling behind 19-3 at halftime. They cut the lead to 21-10 heading into the fourth quarter. Logan Rota fueled the comeback with seven points in the final frame. The comeback culminated with a steal and layup by Jared Murray to pull OLG within one.
Rota finished with 11 points to lead all scorers. Murray and Lukas Adriano each had four points. Brandon Rands and Nathan Henry closed out the OLG scoring with two points each.
The NBCYO has six rounds of regular season play remaining before playoffs. OLG has home games 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 11:30 a.m. on Sundays at Windsor Middle School. The public is invited to attend all games.
