Gary M. Jones – Hunter, fisherman, veteran
Died Aug. 26, 2008 at home in Sebastopol after a brief illness
at the age of 64.
Jones was born in San Rafael and was a Sebastopol resident the
past 32 years. He was a 45-year member of Plumber’s Local 38, and
served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was an avid
hunter, fisherman and abalone diver. In his retirement Jones kept
busy with black powder and silhouette shooting. He is survived by
his wife Trudy; sons, Arend and Timothy of Sebastopol; and sister
Cheryl Buckwalter of Novato.
Patricia J. Brock – Worked in her garden
Patricia Brock died on Aug. 28 at the age of 81.
Known as “Mom Brock” to many, and later on as “Grandma Pat,”
Brock worked many years at Wells Fargo Bank in Mill Valley, and
later transferred to the Terra Linda branch. It was there she
befriended her longtime friend Teddy Stone and the friendship
continued until the day she died.
After raising her children in Marin County, Brock settled in
Sonoma County and spent her time working in her garden.
Brock was proceeded in death by her husband Clifford D. Brock
and son Rory. She is survived by her children Kenneth, Renny,
Russell, and Timothy, and grandchildren Brock Shute, Aimee,
Jessica, Rorie, and Benjamin Brock. She also leaves behind her
sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Paul Weichel, and Hal (deceased)
and Jean Brock, and nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Keatons Mortuary, 1022 E St., in
San Rafael from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 4, and a graveside service
at Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 5th Ave., in San Rafael at 10:30 a.m.
Friday Sept. 5.

Joseph F. Klein – WWII Army Veteran
Joseph F. Klein was born March 21, 1917 and passed away
September 1, 2008 in Healdsburg, CA at the age of 91. Beloved
husband of Ann for 58 years. Cherished father of Kathleen (John)
and James (Annette). Adored grandfather of Jennifer and John;
Benjamin and David. Great grandfather of Kayla and Jessica. His
gentle spirit was loved by all who knew him. Born and raised in
Brainard, Nebraska. Served in the Army in WWII. Worked for
Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in San Francisco for 40 years.
His retirement years were spent in Healdsburg with his devoted
wife, Ann.
Visitation times will be held 5-8 p.m.. on Thurs., Sept. 4,
2008, and at 12:30 P.M. on Fri., Sept. 5, 2008. Funeral service
will begin at 1 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 5, 2008 at the Windsor
Healdsburg Mortuary, 9660 Old Redwood Hwy. in Windsor. Interment to
follow at Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg, CA.
Mortimer H. “Mort” Weed – WWII Air Corps
Veteran
Mortimer H. “Mort” Weed died Friday Aug 29, 2008 at the age of
91.
He was the loving husband of Frances V. Weed for over 67 years.
Mort was the dear father of Robert (Carol) Weed. He is survived by
his sister Bettye Talley, grandson Jason Weed and great
granddaughters Hailey and Shawnee Weed and 3 nieces.
Mort was born in Oakland, California and served in the Army Air
Corps during WWII. After the war he went to work for the U.S.
Postal Service retiring after 28 years of service. Upon his
retirement in 1972 they moved from their home in Lafayette to
Healdsburg and resided at River Bend. Mort was a member of the
River Bend Men’s Club and leaves behind his “special poker
buddies.” Mort and Frances enjoyed “trailering”and traveling around
the country for many years after the war. Mort also enjoyed
golf.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday Sept. 6, 2008 at the River
Bend Club Room. Interment was private at Oakmound Cemetery in
Healdsburg.
Phyllis Heidelberger Schaeffer – Loved music, crafts and
animals
Phyllis passed away on August 25, 2008, after a short and
courageous battle with Lymphoma. She is survived by her daughter
and son-in-law, Julie and Dennis Jacobsen, her granddaughter and
daughter-in-law, Heather and Susan Emmert, her loving companion
since 2004, Harold Stromnes, his daughter and son-in-law, Renee and
Doug Droese, her sister-in-law, Martha Heidelberger, and family,
her niece, Margaret Ann Richter, and many dear friends. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Robert Heidelberger in 1988, her
son, John P. Emmert in 1993, her sister, Joan Harman, in 2003, and
her former husband, Jack Emmert, earlier this year.
Phyllis Ann Eccles was born in Aurora, Illinois on February 4,
1931, to John G. Eccles and Edna Seaton Eccles. She had a lifelong
love of music, beginning piano lessons at the age of 6, and went on
to major in music at Indiana University. She married her high
school sweetheart, Jack Emmert after completing two years of
college, and worked as a secretary at the university to help him
finish his education there.
She and Jack moved to California in 1953, settling in the bay
area. She was a loving mom, a wonderful homemaker, talented
seamstress; loved needlepoint, knitting, embroidery, and almost any
type of craft. She loved the planning, and designing of her
beautiful projects, as well as actually doing them. She also loved
her kitties. In 1964, the family moved to Pittsburgh, PA for one
year, then came back to California, settling in Aptos. Phyllis
began working at Santa Cruz Land Title as a secretary, then was an
escrow officer for several years. She and Jack divorced in 1973,
and she married Bob Heidelberger in 1976, relocating to Antioch,
then Healdsburg, where they were in real estate. They were very
active in their community, and enjoyed traveling all over the
country and Canada with their Bonanza flying friends until Bob’s
death in 1988. Phyllis was in the Healdsburg Community Choir, and
always continued with her piano. She loved her church family at St.
Paul’s Episcopal Church in Healdsburg, was very active in the choir
and music ministry, ECW, Altar Guild, and volunteered in the church
office.
In 2004, she moved to Los Gatos to be closer to her daughter and
granddaughter, and settled happily into the community of Los Gatos
Meadows, volunteering as a tutor teaching English as a Second
Language, performing often for social events, memorials, and chapel
services. She attended St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, singing in the
choir, as well as serving on the Altar Guild and in the church
office there.
Phyllis had a beautiful smile, and laughed easily. She loved to
learn, and try new things, loved to travel, met friends at
Elderhostels all over the country, and recently went to Guatemala
with Habitat for Humanity. She made many wonderful friends wherever
she went, and cherished each one. She loved and enjoyed her life,
her family, and her friends, and she will be greatly missed by all
who knew her.
Services will be held on Tuesday September 9 at 11:30 a.m. at
Santa Cruz Memorial-Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa
Cruz 95065

Lee Archer Assimont – Passionate about racing and
travel
Lee Archer Asimont MD was a career Kaiser Permanente physician,
devoted husband loving father and grandfather. He is survived by
his loving wife Delicia Asimont his children; Scott Asimont,
Michelle Susie, and Lise Asimont; and his grandchildren Nicholas
Susie, Richard Susie and Lillian Blair. He was passionate about
his family, music, travel, Formula 1 racing and skiing.
Friends are invited to attend visitation after 4pm Thursday with
a Rosary to begin at 7 pm at Fred Young F. H. 428 N. Cloverdale
Blvd. Cloverdale.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Friday Aug. 29,
2008 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Cloverdale. Interment will be
at Oakmound Cemetery, Healdsburg.
