Robert “Bob” Johnson
“He believed for his healing and he got it — the Ultimate
healing! We have not lost him; we know right where he is.”
Bob was born on February 22, 1929 in Longview, Washington and
joined the Heavenly Choir on February 22, 1929. Bob is survived by
his wife of 56 years, Elaine. Also survived by his children: Patti
and Allan Foster, Windsor; Mike and julie Johnson, Prunedale; KC
and Lucinda Johnson, Salida. Papa to Amy and Michael Dale and
Robert Foster, Windsor; Grandpa to Brannon, Keaton and Kelsey
Johnson, Prunedale; Christina Johnson and joseph Berolo Salida;
Daniel and Claudia Berolo, US Air Force, Nebraska. Great-Grandpa to
Jeffery Dale, Windsor and Aaliyah Berolo, Nebraska.
Also survived by his sisters, Kathleen Sandrock and Barbara
Johnson; nephew Willie Johnson and nieces Victoria, Janet and
Suzie; sisters, Brothers and nephews of the Hartman Family.
Bob returned to Sonoma County in 1999, having lived in and
worked the ranches with Rev Seth Hartman while giving music lessons
to local chidlren in the 1950’s. Bob was manager for Goetz Bros in
Redwood City for 35 years. Locally Bob attended Evangel Assembly of
God and Sebastopol Assembly of God churches as well as his ABC
Bible Study group on Wednesdays. One of his most recent
accomplishments was winning the Holiday Decorating Contest in
Windsor where he filled his entire neighborhood with his handmade
wooden Christmas Decorations. The family would like to thank Dr.
Pile, Dr. Gerard, Denise, Dr. Dolan, Steve and George for their
care, compassion and concern in his last few weeks. Donations in

Dorothy Lee Fires
Dorothy Fires was born on Feb. 8, 1942 in Napa, and moved to
Sebastopol in her pre-teens. She graduated from Analy High School
in 1959, and married her high school sweetheart, Marcus Dean
Fires. They were married for 47 years. Fires loved water skiing and
camping with her daughters, Darla and Denice Fires. She enjoyed
planting her flowers, gardening and spending time with her
grandchildren, Brandi and Thomas McAlvain. The latest joy of her
life was her great-grandson, Jayden James Caufield. Along with her
husband, Fires is survived by her sisters Shirley Anderson and
Debbie Siedentoff; niece’s, nephew’s and other family and
friends.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28,
2009 at 2 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Lodge in Sebastopol, 195 North
Main St. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer
Society.
Haywood C. Vaughan – Counselor at Analy, El
Mo

Haywood Vaughan died Thursday at a Marin County hospital. He was
87.
Vaughan served as a World War II fighter pilot, an Air Force
flight instructor and a team member for a major aeronautics
company’s missile program.
When Vaughan was in his 60s, the native of Leavenworth, KS
enrolled at Sonoma State University to obtain a master’s degree in
counseling. He went on to become a high school counselor for Analy
and El Molino high schools.
Vaughan and his family lived in about 60 different locations,
and he served about 14 years in the military, including the Air
Force’s Strategic Air Command, and also worked on the Titan missile
program for the Glenn L. Martin Co.
He later became a real estate agent before becoming a high
school counselor. He retired from counseling at the age of 70.
Vaughan was a member of the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa
Rosa and St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Sebastopol.
Vaughan is survived by his wife of 64 years Jessie Vaughan; two
sons, Christian Vaughan of Santa Rosa and Michael Vaughan of San
Rafael; three sisters, Patricia Zink of Leavenworth, KS, Delores
Politte of Denver, CO, and Karen Reynolds of Wichita, KS; a
brother, Ray Vaughan of Wichita; and one grandchild.
The family prefers donations to St. Sebastian’s Catholic
Church.
Gloria Jean Santos – Preceded by beloved dog
Sam

Gloria Santos died at home in the company of her family on
Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. Santos was
born on April 30, 1958 in Sebastopol, and she graduated from
Forestville Elementary, El Molino High School, and Santa Rosa
Junior College.
Santos is survived by her husband, Daniel Santos; son,
Christopher (Laurie) Hillard; and grandson Ethan Hillard. Santos is
also survived by her mother, Elsie (Bill) Smith; father, Donald
(Bertha) Wagner; sisters, Paula Peterson, Laura (Dick) Grady, Penny
(John) Stewart, Janet (Fred) Stanley, Lynda (Barry) Keller, Gail
(Tim) Ehlert, Linda (Gary) Lott, Mary (Chris) Elmore; brother Craig
Wagner, sister-in-law Lelah Mae Peterson and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ray
and Tom Peterson, stepfather Joe Williams and her beloved dog
Sam.
Prior to her death, Santos requested that no services be held,
but asked instead that we celebrate life every day. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of
your choice.
Natalie Osander Canby – Sonoma County resident since
1960

Natalie Canby died on Feb. 14, 2009. She was born in San
Francisco and was a resident of Sonoma County since 1960. Canby was
preceded in death by her husband Serge Canby. She is survived by
sons, Wesley Canby of Ukiah and Eugene Canby of Guerneville;
daughter, Natalie (Candy) Peters of Sebastopol; eight grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held on
Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 1 p.m. at her residence in Sebastopol. In
lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sutter VNA
Hospice.
Mercedes Ticas Davison – Born in El Salvador,
1911

Mercedes Davison died on Feb. 9, 2009 at the age of 97. She is
survived by her only son Jaime Quintanilla, daughter-in-law Kim,
granddaughters Lia, Casandra and son-in-law Bo, Elena, grandsons
Nathan and Joshua and great-grandchildren, Izaiah, Hannah, Tyber
and Quan. 
Davison was born in El Salvador on April 13, 1911, and moved to
San Francisco with her son in 1959. She later moved to Rohnert Park
in 1975 where she lived independently.

Steven Hastings – Loved sailing and flying
Steven Leon Hastings, born March 22, 1952 in Stockton, CA,
passed away peacefully in Oakdale, CA on January 25, 2009.
Steve was raised in Palo Alto and went to high school in
Oakdale, CA. He then went to Modesto Junior College and Cal
Berkeley for an Engineering Degree.
Steve met his wife Marie in 1981 and they were married that year
in Vancouver, Canada. They bought a sailboat and set off to
circumnavigate, but in 1987, while they were in Mexico, Steve and
Marie found they were pregnant with their son Ryan.
Steve got into the construction industry in 1989 and stayed with
that for the rest of his life. He and his family moved to
Healdsburg in 1996 after visiting friends and falling in love with
the town. Steve built the house they moved into — their dream home
— and resided their ever since.
Steve loved life. He enjoyed sailing, golfing, flying his own
plane to Lake Almanor and Lake Tahoe for ski trips, fishing,
traveling and photography.
He leaves behind his wife Marie, son Ryan and mother Beverly
Schoenwetter, of Oakdale; his step-brother Doug Schoenwetter, of
Las Vegas and two nieces, Erin Hastings of Washington and Alison
Hastings of Washington.
Dollie Ingram – Santa Rosa Army Air Base Queen
1944

Dollie Ingram went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on
Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009. Born Dec. 21, 1926 in Granite, Oklahoma to
George Valentine Wilson and Cora Ida Alice Sanders, Dollie was one
of 12 children. Chris (Vonnnie) Coon of Healdsburg is the sole
surviving sibling. A graduate of Cloverdale High School, class of
1943, she was crowned, “Santa Rosa Army Air Base Queen, 1944.” In
December, 1945 she married the love of her life, Dan Ingram. She is
survived by her husband Dan, and their four children; Joan (Bob)
Sholler, Mercer (Gay) Ingram, Judy Ingram and Randy (Maggie)
Ingram, as well as their rich heritage of 20 grandchildren, 44
Great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Wife, Mother,
Daughter, Sister and faithful friend, she is sweetly remembered,
deeply cherished and forever loved. Memorial Services will be held
at the Booneville Senior Center at 14470 Highway 128 Booneville, CA
95415.
Donald Lynn McGrew – Known for humor and work
ethic

Donald Lynn McGrew died at home February 15, 2009 at the age of
63.
He was the beloved father and brother, he went home 2.5 months
after being diagnosed with cancer.
He faced his journey with humor, courage and grace. We celebrate
his life remembering him for his drive, determination to always
succeed and do his best, his work ethic his humor and gift to gab,
story telling and strength. His passions included driving truck,
running heavy equipment, playing golf, traveling and much more. He
worked for Steve Medeiros, of M.C.I. and held Steve in highest
regard. He is survived by many who love him, including his
children, Jim and Belinda, brother Ron, sister Pam, all his
grandchildren, one great granddaughter, aunts, uncles, nieces,
church members and many others. We love you Dad.
