Eleanor Beck
Eleanor Beck, “Mama” to her family, died peacefully on June 22 at the age of 98 at Clearwater Lodge, Cloverdale, her loving home for the past six years.
She was born in Newark, California on June 9, 1918 to her devoted family, Mamie, Frank and older brother Vern. She attended Fremont High School and met her future husband, Pierre Robert Beck at the Russian River. They were married in 1948 in San Francisco and opened one of the first TV shops in the city.
They moved to Sebastopol in 1953 and opened Pierre’s TV, later Sebastopol TV Center, next to the current Fircrest Market.
Eleanor loved Cloverdale and after spending much time there with her daughter Renée, son-in-law Bill Tierney and grandchildren, Byron, Pierrette, Dustin and Nathan, she willingly moved in with them in 2006. She shared her later years in Cloverdale and Williamsburg, Virginia with her other daughter and son-in-law Pierrette and David Kolodzinski.
Eleanor is survived by her loving daughters, Renée (Bill) Tierney, Pierrette (David) Kolodzinski, her grandchildren, Byron (Allison) Tierney, Pierrette (Matthew) Magleby, Dustin (Kelly) Tierney, Nathan (Leeza) Tierney, Jonathan (Molly) Kolodzinski, Derek (Clarissa) Kolodzinski, Colette (Patrick) Bryan and 17 great grandchildren.
The family would like to sincerely thank Clearwater Lodge residents and staff for being a family to all of us, especially Filma Walton, Bea, Malou, Dante, Albert, Cindy and Eddie. There is no better place to spend your precious last years than with the “loving angels” that reside and work at Clearwater Lodge in Cloverdale.
In lieu of flowers Eleanor would love to have donations made to her favorite charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, to whom she made monthly donations for 40 years.
A private memorial will be held for Eleanor’s family and friends on September 24.
