Michael Daniel Tobener
Michael Daniel Tobener was born Jan. 26, 1942 in San Francisco to Charles Calvin and Esther Leary Tobener. Michael was raised in San Francisco with his sister, Maureen by his mother, Mary (May); his grandmother, Margaret (Maggie); and his aunts, Sissy, Catty and Francis. He married Margot Elaine Francis on July 27, 1963 at Saint Cecilia’s Church in San Francisco. They remained married for over 52 years and have been an inspiration to their family. Michael worked at many professions throughout his lifetime, but he always referred to himself as a “pressman.” He retired from the Santa Rosa Press Democrat after over 20 years there. Michael died surrounded by family on Jan. 22, after a long struggle with lung disease. He is survived by his wife, Margot; his children, Mike Jr., Margaret Shafer, Nicole Rilea; his grandchildren, Tara, Tim, Theresa, Ashley, Nicolas, Derick, Brieana; and his great-grandchildren, Emma, Brooklynn and Addison.
