Mollie Rechin (MacKenzie)
Mollie died on Feb. 2, after suffering through the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s for the past few years. She was born in Ohio on June 2, 1931. Mollie is survived by her sister, Jenny Kobel of Coshocton, Ohio. Mollie is also survived by her husband, Bob, and their two sons, Tim, his wife Dana and grandchildren Jade and Kai, living in San Carlos California, and Jake, of San Francisco. Mollie resided in Sonoma County since 1973, and in Cloverdale since 2000. She and Bob also maintain a home in Reno, Nevada. She was a teacher in her professional life, teaching various ages at both public and private schools. Mollie graduated from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio and was a master teacher there. Mollie was quite adventurous; when she decided to leave Ohio, she traveled on her own to Cape Cod, and developed her artistic flair there. She later traveled to California where she continued her professional teaching career. That’s where she met Bob and they married in 1968. She was a person of committed faith and lived her life accordingly and was always a loving spouse, and a devoted friend and companion. California beaches and outdoors were a great love of Mollie’s. She also developed a passion for cooking. One of Mollie’s fondest pursuits was pleasing her family – both through cooking and also keeping them focused on the positive aspects in life. A lifelong friend recently commented, “I’ve never known Mollie to say anything remotely negative about anyone.” A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cloverdale, 450 S. Franklin Street. To honor Mollie and her memory, consider a donation to: Alzheimer’s Association 1211 North Dutton Ave., Suite A Santa Rosa, CA 95401.
