Of eight public art projects funded by last year’s round of city art grants, the final one has made its debut! It’s an “array of programmable LED lights” on the front facade of the old Healdsburg Museum building on Matheson Street — a $5,000 installation “meant to create energy and excitement after dark.” And it seems to be getting the job done, in the opinion of this party girl. In its flirty first display, the museum was lit up in hot pink for Valentine’s. And a multicolor option was chosen for an event held at the museum tonight. (Filipino cookbook author Dinna Villacorta Eisenhart was hosting a “talk, signing and food tasting of favorite recipes.”) Museum officials fawned over their new light display on Facebook this week: “Thanks to the generosity of the Sher family, matched by a City of Healdsburg Public Art grant, we can now light up the Museum for special occasions. Kudos to Christian Johnson and Manuel Macias for the best installation ever! And cheers to Noah Jeppson and Lauren Villacorte for vision and support.” The second part of the same project, a series of “colorful new banners… on the exterior of the museum to complement the nighttime experience,” is supposed to be unveiled soon.
