“It starts out tasting like vanilla ice cream and then when you taste a Thin Mint, it’s so good.”
That’s how 9-year-old Ashley Jenkins described a special flavor created from Girl Scout cookies and ice cream last week.
The girls gathered at Summer’s Market for an ice cream tasting after market owner Summer Sebastiani bought boxes of Thin Mint cookies and mixed crushed cookies into her homemade ice cream.
Troop 10176 sold 2,700 boxes of Girl Scout cookies this season, a good start for a new troop, according to Dannelle Jenkins, troop leader and mother to Ashley and her younger sister, 6-year-old Hannah.
“We have 17 girls in the troop so far and a waiting list,” Jenkins said.
Proceeds from the cookie sales will be used to pay for summer activities for the girls.
Dan Greaves, a parent of one of the girls, said selling cookies was a good experience for the troop. “It helped them set goals and reach them and it helped them understand working with currency,” he said. “They did a good job.”
Troop 10176 is looking for businesses that can help sponsor more activities for the girls. For more information email da*************@me.com.
