Did you get that Nixle alert about the road closure at Dry Creek Road and Grove Street on Saturday evening? Dry Creek was closed between Big John’s and the 101 exit for around five hours that night; when I drove by, all I saw was a sea of flashing lights. According to Healdsburg police, a car crashed into a guy riding a motorcycle around 5:30 p.m. Officers said they got multiple 911 calls and immediately responded to the scene, but that it was too late to save him. “Life saving measures were performed until Bells Ambulance paramedics arrived on scene and transported the motorcyclist to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said. “The Healdsburg Police Department sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.” They haven’t released the man’s name yet. Healdsburg Mayor Ariel Kelley wrote on Facebook: “Devastated to hear the news of this tragic accident. My heart goes out to the victim’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. As we enter into winter, we can expect more rainy days — and this is an important reminder to drive cautiously and stay careful on the road.” (Healdsburg Police Department via Facebook & Ariel Kelley via Facebook & Press Democrat; paywall)
