Mildred Geneva Black grew up in Geyserville and lived the
majority of her life in Sonoma County. She died on Saturday,
November 3, 2007 at age 94. The daughter of pioneer Sonoma County
residents Burt and Alice Eagle, Mildred was born on April 11, 1913
in Geyserville and was the first of four daughters, which included
Lorraine Bugalski and Barbara Choquette (both deceased) and Betty
Robbins. She attended Geyserville High School and married Wendell
Phillips “Bill” Black from Dry Creek/Healdsburg in 1932. They were
married for 62 years and lived in Alexander Valley, Bodega, Santa
Rosa, Sebastopol and Windsor. Mildred and Bill were members of the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Mildred was very active in its
ladies auxiliary, the Rebekahs, for many years. Bill preceded her
in death in 1994 and she moved to Sonora, Calif., in 2000. She is
survived by her sister Betty Robbins of Santa Rosa and her two sons
and daughters-in-law, Wesley and Rita Black of Sonora, Calif., and
Wilbur and Marlene Black of Parma, Idaho, as well as six grand
children: Donald (Laura) Stockfisch of Salida, Calif., Denise
(Mike) Dunton of Molalla, Ore., Tom Black of Fallon, Nev., Cathie
(Paul) Rosales of Windsor, Susan Black-Manriquez (Steve) of Las
Vegas, NV, and Tim (Sarah) Black of Parma, Idaho, 14
great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. At her
request, no service will be held.
