Michael J. Canney, a retired airline executive in California,
died Tuesday, December 10, 2002, in Buffalo, New York, after a
battle with cancer. During the last two years since his retirement,
he was a resident of Lakewood Hills in Windsor, CA. Mr. Canney was
active in many Windsor and Santa Rosa community activities and also
took extensive computer classes at the Santa Rosa Junior
College.
Canney, 67 was a Buffalo native, were he attended Canisius
College. He also served in the Marine Corps on Okinawa.
He lived in New York City and Chicago, where he worked for
Flying Tiger Airlines. He later lived in the San Francisco area
where he was North American cargo manager for Singapore Airlines
and then in the Los Angeles area.
He is survived by a sister, Margaret Scanlon, and a brother,
James, both of Buffalo.
There was a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic Church and burial was in Holy Cross Cemetary, Lackawanna,
New York.
