There was a meeting for the Larkfield/Mark West Community, especially for those burned out by the fires, on Wednesday, March 21, and according to Stuart Tiffen, Field Representative for Supervisor Gore, it was the best one yet.

You may remember that Stuart is currently there, stationed in the offices of the Mark West Chamber and Cal Am Water, for the purpose of renewing, rebuilding and serving the people who have been affected by the fires in the Fourth Supervisorial District. He said that every organization he invited was able to attend and they had tables and stuck around for questions after the program. He received a lot of positive feedback.
Most of the questions were about insurance, debris removal, permits and the sewer/septic situation.
I understand a lot of people are still looking for contractors. There were three in attendance at the meeting who were interested in working with the community to rebuild. They are Arrow Builders, APM Homes and Stonefield Builders. I don’t know any of them but you can check them out.
There will be another meeting on Tuesday, April 3, concerning the Larkfield Sewer. It will be held at the Sonoma County Office of Education, 5340 Skylane Boulevard, Santa Rosa.
Stuart wants everybody to know that if you have questions or need information or help with a situation you can call the Board of Supervisors office, 565-2241 or email him at st***********@so**********.org.
Roni Berg and Pete Lescure, both members of the Mark West Citizens Advisory Council were at the meeting representing the council. Along with answering questions about the council they were passing out flyers about the MWCAC’s Neighborhood Improvement Funding Program, funded by Cal Am Water franchise fees.
It supports neighborhood improvement projects in the communities serviced by Cal Am Water — Mark West, Larkfield, Wikiup and parts of Fulton. Residents of Mark West, Larkfield, Wikiup and parts of Fulton who are serviced by Cal Am Water are eligible to apply. Projects must identify the benefits to the community; have a specific timeline with defined steps and costs.
The MWCAC approves the proposals for funding and encourages residents to look around their neighborhoods for projects that all residents can enjoy and be proud of. Check out the “Welcome” signs in Fulton. The program funded that project. Contact me if you want more information about this.
Last month I told you that the council listened to a presentation by Cal Am Water Company. Once again, Jim Bouler presented a simple logical case against consolidation. As an end result, the council felt there were so many different points of view that they could not make a recommendation either way and accurately represent the voice of the community.
Sadly, Jim Bouler passed away on March 3. We, as a community lost a very caring and active member, as well as a good friend to many.
