Marguerite Mary Marge Manthey, 82, passed away in Petaluma on
Friday, July 2, 2004. Marguerite was the beloved mother of Robert
Manthey Jr. and Joseph Manthey; sister of Anita Googins of Novato,
Ruth Seaton of Healdsburg, Peter C. Dolcini of Petaluma and Earl J.
Dolcini of Petaluma; sister-in-law of Richard Manthey of Wisconsin,
John Manthey of Tennessee, and Franciscan Sister Bernadine Manthey
of Wisconsin; also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine
and Arnold Dolcini; husband, Robert J. Manthey; and brother Arnold
Dolcini Jr. Marguerite grew up on the family dairy ranch in Hicks
Valley, west of Petaluma, and was educated at the one-room Lincoln
School, St. Vincent de Paul High School (Class of 1940), UC
Berkeley, Santa Rosa Junior College, and San Jose State College,
where she earned her teaching credential. She taught for some 30
years, beginning at Lagunitas District School and continuing in
Novato and Petaluma schools. She was a past president of the
Italian Catholic Federation Number 127, Petaluma; secretary and
treasurer of St. Anthony’s Farm Auxiliary; and a charter member of
Petaluma Heritage Homes. She kept a voluminous correspondence with
family and friends and loved to host parties. Marguerite was a
member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she
coordinated Mass greeters and led a parish Renew group. A Catholic
Youth Organization sponsor from 1955-1965, she won the Archbishop’s
Youth Award for her contributions to that program. Services were
held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma on Friday, July 9. In
lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to
