Louisa M. “Lou” Turner, 77, died early Thursday morning, June 10
at her Sebastopol home surrounded by her friends. Born in London,
England, Lou was a young girl, she remembered the bombings in World
War II when she hid with her family. In 1949, Lou wanted to get as
far away as possible from those memories and so came to California.
Here she met, and two weeks later married, John Turner. The couple
lived in Mariposa until moving to Sebastopol 40 years ago. The
couple was married for 48 years before John passed away. Lou was
one of 11 children. She is survived only by her brother John Cox of
England. She will be lovingly remembered by her countless friends
and acquaintances. Her spunky spirit, amazingly quick wit, genuine
compassion for others and ubiquitous smile made her a friend and
favorite to many in the Hessel/Sebastopol community. Lou has asked
that memorial gifts be made to the Hessel Church Building Fund.
