Loretta Marie von Schleicher Harris (April 22 1929- January 14, 2018) died last week after a short illness. She was 88. Loretta was born in Eagle Rock, CA on April 22, 1929, graduating from Eagle Rock High School High School and married Robert Harris in 1947. Together, they lived in Oceanside and Carlsbad, CA before relocating to Northern California in 1965 with their daughter Nancy. She worked for both the Pacific Bell Phone Company and the Emporium during her working life. She and her family enjoyed car travel throughout the west all her life. She enjoyed a long retirement in a house her husband designed and built in Grass Valley, CA. She moved to Cloverdale last year, to be close to family.
She was an accomplished seamstress and needle worker, a breast-cancer survivor, an avid baker, a lover of chickens, frogs, and birds and the rise of tulips in the spring. Her entire life was one of quiet courage and grace.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Robert Harris of Cloverdale; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Harris Dalwin and Geoffrey Dalwin of Cloverdale; and her two grandchildren, Mahealani Campbell of Sebastopol and Kawika Campbell of Los Angeles. What is remembered lives.
