The El Molino and Analy swim teams put in their final strokes at the North Bay League Swimming Championships on April 26 and 27 at Santa Rosa Junior College, the first such event since league realignment.
The meet pitted all 11 teams combined in both the NBL Oak and Redwood Divisions, making for fast times and outstanding performances.Â
Leading the way for the Lions was sprint specialist Andrew Liput, who captured first place in the 50 freestyle final in a sizzling 23.45. Liput added an eighth place finish in the 100 freestyle.Â
Other top performers for El Mo were Johnny Paneno (second place, 200 IM and 100 breaststroke) and Riley Schondel (13th place 100 breaststroke). Overall, the El Mo boys were ninth as a team, while the girls placed 10th.
The Analy swim team also had its share of outstanding individual efforts, led by Grace Moussa (fourth place 100 backstroke, seventh place 100 butterfly). Top relay teams for the Tigers included the eighth place 200 freestyle relay team of Coco Royer, Eleanor Jaffe, Zaida Jenkins and Cora Oronato, the fifth place 400 freestyle relay team of Avery Duffy, Amina Rand-McNeil, Kotoha Togami and Grace Moussa, and the sixth place finishing 200 medley relay team of Moussa, Togami, Rand-McNeil and Duffy. The Analy girls finished in seventh place overall.
