School Plans for Student Achievement show changes due to COVID, distance learning
At the Dec. 15 meeting of the Windsor Unified School District Board of Trustees, the final school sites presented their reports on the implementation of the 2019-20 School Plans for Student Achievement and presented their goals for the coming school year.
House fire in Windsor
According to the Sonoma County Fire District, at around 8 a.m. on Oct. 6, a structure fire ignited on the 11000 block of Old Redwood Highway in Windsor. All occupants including two dogs and two kittens were rescued unharmed. In a photo taken by the fire district, an operation known as a tactical ventilation technique is shown as firefighters work to save the home.
Peaceful Protest
Enough—On June 1 and 2, protesters gathered on the Town Green between 3 and 6 p.m. to demand equity and action in the wake of the death of George Floyd, a black man, at the hands of white police officers. While social media posts and activity in Santa Rosa prompted some local fears, the group that gathered on the Green was peaceful and supportive, chanting and inciting passing cars to honk in support. One juvenile arrested in Windsor double shooting
According to a statement from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), on June 11 at approximately 5:51 p.m. SCSO dispatch received multiple 911 calls from residents near Michael Hall Park, located in the 400 block of Jane Drive in Windsor. The callers reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing people running from the park.

A Healdsburg city manager office update issued by the city on March 27 offered a warning to residents on the emergence of COVID-19-related scams and fraudulent calls and emails, many offering coronavirus cures, test kits and fraudulent cleaning services.
