Pair of special meetings set to help council come together, plan for future

The Windsor Town Council will be holding two special meetings next week to work together as a council to set goals and make plans for the future.

Nonprofit to offer free emergency preparedness workshops

In a recent “Community Conversation” on July 15, Corazón Healdsburg announced that it will be offering a series of free online emergency preparedness classes in both English and Spanish with Nuestra Comunidad, a local nonprofit that helps educate folks on emergency and disaster preparedness through public outreach and training.

Peaceful Protest

Enough—On June 1 and 2, protesters gathered on the Town Green between 3 and 6 p.m. to demand equity and action in the wake of the death of George Floyd, a black man, at the hands of white police officers. While social media posts and activity in Santa Rosa prompted some local fears, the group that gathered on the Green was peaceful and supportive, chanting and inciting passing cars to honk in support. Financial strain may impact hospital’s ‘surge’ plans

Just when the full breadth of its services could be most needed, the staffing and some departments of Healdsburg District Hospital (HDH) are being cut back due to sudden and steep revenue losses.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, many people in Sonoma County and around the world have taken to creating masks for healthcare workers, frontline personnel and community members. Longtime Healdsburg quilters Denise Feldman has put a pause on her quilt making to join the cause. She now makes between 15-20 masks a day, which she distributes from her front porch to community members.

Look out for coronavirus-related scams

A Healdsburg city manager office update issued by the city on March 27 offered a warning to residents on the emergence of COVID-19-related scams and fraudulent calls and emails, many offering coronavirus cures, test kits and fraudulent cleaning services.
