St. John the Baptist School students held a jogathon Friday at Badger Park in Healdsburg. Friends and families sponsored students, who ran for physical fitness and to raise funds for school activities. Parents, staff and the St. John tiger mascot were also on hand to offer, hugs, high-fives and encouragement.

Healdsburg Hospital gets $2.2 million for new MRI
Healthcare Foundation Northern Sonoma County’s board chair, Barbara Grasseschi, presented a check to Healdsburg District Hospital board members in the amount of $2.2 million for the hospital’s purchase of a permanent MRI to serve the residents of northern Sonoma County.

City Council meets Oct. 2 to discuss second home tax
On Monday night, the Healdsburg City Council will hear a report on a possible second home tax, which has been proposed by city councilmember Leah Gold. The staff report that will be presented indicates that such a tax would be difficult, but not impossible, to assess. The council will not make a final decision on a tax, but will discuss it in open session and hear comments from the public.
