Cloverdale Police taking back unwanted prescription drugs on April 28
On Saturday, April 28, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Cloverdale Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.
Friday Night Live Summer Line-up Announced
Friday Night Live at the Plaza, Cloverdale’s free summer concert series, has announced the lineup of bands scheduled to appear Friday nights from June 1 through August 31, 2018. Friday Night Live & Street Fair, produced by the Cloverdale Arts Alliance, offers a variety of family-friendly activities every Friday evening throughout the summer.

What’s the difference between a violin and a fiddle? Nothing, really, except maybe an approach to playing it and the musical style. Fiddle is actually just a nickname for the violin, although any bowed string instrument can be called a fiddle (or so Wikipedia tells me). But most of the time, a fiddle is a violin. Just played in a different style.
THE Jazz Club sparks it up with Charged Particles, Mar. 1
On Thursday, March 1, the Cloverdale Arts Alliance will present Bay Area favorite, Charged Particles, at THE Jazz Club.
Santa Rosa Symphony Young People’s Chamber Orchestra, Mar. 1
CPAC welcomes back for their fourth appearance this young string orchestra, a winner of the statewide annual Berkeley Junior Bach Festival. Working without a conductor this student ensemble delights with their level of musicianship and attentive collaboration with one another. Special guest will be Lewis Patzner, classically trained cellist with a growing reputation as an innovative cross-over musician and composer. Performance lasts an hour with no intermission.
Scene Seen: Live Music in Cloverdale in February
Right off the bat on February 1, the Jazz Club at the Arts Alliance brings you a fabulous international mélange of styles and influences that spans the globe yet makes its home in San Francisco. Barrio Manouche—from the Spanish word for, essentially, “neighborhood,” and a name by which certain clans of the Romany Gypsy people identify themselves, is a collection of extremely accomplished instrumentalists who hail from around the world. The music is modern but ancient, drawing heavily as it does from the Romany Gypsy tradition, with its guitars and violins, exotic melodies and emphasis on improvisation.
Exhibit of abstract painting by Marian Murphy til Dec. 1
An exhibit of Healdsburg artist Marian Murphy’s abstract art is on display at the Cloverdale History Museum, until Dec. 1. After a career as a mother and secretary, Murphy at the age of 38, fell in love with photography. Studying at the Ohio Institute of Photography, she became a professional photographer and enjoyed her career as a portrait photographer in Healdsburg for 30 years.
