A long-standing baseball tradition will be renewed this Saturday, March 30, when the Sebastopol and El Molino Little Leagues hold their annual Opening Day ceremonies.
The Sebastopol Little League will kick off its 62nd year beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Calhan/Laguna Park, with players gathering for the traditional parade of teams.
Festivities will feature a cake walk and a 50/50 raffle, with both Oakland A’s and San Francisco Giants gift baskets included in the raffle. The league will conduct a Hit-A-Thon at 11:30 a.m., followed by Majors and Junior Division games at 1 and 2:20 p.m. respectively.
This year’s Sebastopol Little League will consist of some 350 kids filling out 28 teams from T-ball to the Senior division. Teams will wrap up the regular season schedule in May, followed by the Tournament of Champions and District 35 All Star tournaments in June and July.
League fundraiser
The Sebastopol Little League is continuing to collect donations for property and equipment damage sustained in the recent flood, including damage to the ice machine, counter tops and water heater in the snack shack. The league has received donations from both the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s and will hold a silent auction on Saturday to help raise more needed funds.     Â
