When does memory become history?
The new exhibition at the Healdsburg Museum puts history front and center in the lives of many of the museum’s visitors themselves. It’s not about 19th century gold-diggers or pre-Columbian basket weaving, but the era of sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll: the 1970s.
New entry on the local pizza scene
Acre uses Pizza Master electric ovens, which keep the temperature constant on top and bottom. And DeCosse is a big advocate of pre-roasting the vegetables before they’re put on the pizza to go in the oven. This, he insists, helps to avoid the dreaded “floppy pizza.”

Roots in the community
The proprietors of BloodRoot Wines, Kelly and Noah Dorrance, have been organizing an annual music and wine festival called The Ramble as a fundraiser benefitting GIFFORDS, a national organization dedicated to preventing gun violence.
Pavilion aces final test for local events
The vendors themselves seemed pretty darn happy with the pop-up Farmers Market experience, too. “I love this market; I love the community; I love everyone coming,” said olive-oil maker Russ Messing, who found himself on the front page of The Tribune last week. “It’s always smile time!”
City launches new community space
Space for vendors has always been a concern for the Farmers’ Market organization and the vendors themselves. “I’ll confess to not being a fan of it initially,” Janet Ciel said. “I realized it would be challenging to put vendors up there (on the stage area), as they can’t drive a car onto it. Everything will have to go up via stairs or a ramp.” But as she’s become used to the space, she’s recognized its potential.

Tuesdays in the Healdsburg Plaza revealed
The music series isn’t quite as time-honored as a Fourth of July parade, or even the Twilight Parade this week. It’s only been a tradition for about 25 years, bringing weekly live music to the downtown square, but it has turned into a major social event. Friends and neighbors gather at impromptu picnic spots beneath a palm or pine to share food, beverages (usually wine) and conversation, or to dance with abandon in front of the Gazebo stage.
