Thanks for everything, Howell
EDITOR: As she retires, I must express my gratitude to Carla Howell for her many years of service to Healdsburg, as planning commissioner, as city councilmember and mayor, and as executive director of the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce. She was on the council when I arrived in Healdsburg in the early ’90s. As a citizen activist helping develop our Urban Growth Boundary, I often had reason to stop into her shop on the Plaza to talk with her, and she was always courteous and helpful. Her example inspired me to become involved in city government myself. Carla was only the second woman in the history of our city to be mayor of Healdsburg. In 2003, I became the fourth.
Carla always speaks directly, with kindness and candor, and is not afraid to make a decision and stand behind it. I know the chamber has relied on her capability, commitment and vision. Thank you for all you’ve done for Healdsburg, Carla. We wish you the best in the next chapter of your life.

What’s the future of SHED?
EDITOR: Could we have an article about the future plans for the SHED building on North Street here in Healdsburg?
The handsome two-story building has been empty for five months.
Reportedly the owners are Doug Lipton and Cindy Daniel.
Is the building for sale? Have qualified buyers expressed an interest in the property?
Healdsburg business owners and local residents would appreciate an update? Some of us spent time at the SHED weekly. Tourists from all over the world had heard about SHED and would drop by the building.
The two-story building offers a range of opportunities. For example, there could be a dining room or office up stairs. The first floor could be offered to small businesses as an indoor street market. Outdoor casual dining on the first floor would be a welcome addition once again.
There is free parking near the building.
We subscribe to the Healdsburg Tribune. This paper offers a local news outlet for a small thriving town and an opportunity for dialogue about our future.

Editor’s Response: We checked into the status of the SHED in March and no sale or permits for the location had happened as of then. We have not discovered any reports of changes since then, but will include developments in future editions as they occur.
Wonder League season was a hit
EDITOR: The Wonder League baseball program, designed specifically for special needs children, wrapped up its 2019 season last Saturday at Healdsburg Recreational Park. The program, now in its fifth season, was spearheaded by the Healdsburg Sunrise Rotary Club, and helped by the Healdsburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Cloverdale Rotary Club.
Saturday’s game and awards ceremony was enhanced by the participation of the Prune Packers, a collegiate league team comprised of some very amazing young men who were more than happy to be on field “buddies” to the children. A barbecue and trophy presentation rounded out the festivities — we can’t wait for next season to begin.
A special thanks to Shaun Shields and his dedicated Healdsburg Sunrise Rotary Club volunteers, who without their hard work and caring hearts this would not have been possible.
