Our Hometown Hero
Editor: Windsor is a caring and compassionate community comprised of a number of unsung Hometown Hereos. One of them is Barbara Brown. Barbara is the heart and soul for the entire community. The dedication and commitment shown by Barbara inspires others to come together in a common goal to help others and stamp out hunger. Barbara works tirelessly seven days a week for the Windsor community in procuring food for distribution on Fridays. Windsor Service Alliance is a nonprofit, volunteer effort which serves on a weekly basis food for 130 families. Barbara coordinates the volunteers in the packaging and distribution of food and is the inspiration for its success by her tireless commitment to stamping out hunger in the Windsor community. We as a community should recognize her as one of our Hometown Heroes.

Help Your Neighbor
Editor: As a dear next door neighbor and family friend for 18 years, I am asking for your loving support of the Guzman Family. They are active members of both the Windsor and Healdsburg communities and now for all our turn to help Veronica and Carlos Guzman.
A fund has been set up at Exchange Bank to help assist the family: Karla Guzman Memorial Fund. Contributions can be deposited at any Exchange Bank location. Their daughter, Karla has positively and clearly impacted the whole community. Let’s show the Guzman family how much we love them and how we should love and take care of each other. Thanks so much for helping! The Guzman family is truly appreciative.

Meet the Girl Scouts
Editor: Girl Scouts of Northern California is having a “Scout Shout” for returning girl scouts and inviting them to “Bring a Buddy.” This is an opportunity to come meet other Girl Scouts and make new friends. We will be singing songs, making crafts and playing GS games. This is also a recruitment night to come find out about Girl Scouts and join an existing troop or to help create a new troop. Girls interested in Girl Scouts are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend to join in the activities. We will be at Mattie Washburn’s multi-purpose room on Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for the parents to receive information about joining Girl Scouts while their daughters are enjoying the fun activities that are being run by older junior girl scouts.
