Thank you Kiwanis
Editor: Once again the Kiwanis have pulled off the best party of the year at the July 3rd fireworks show. Speaking as someone who sees it from the inside out, I am always impressed with how smoothly it comes off. I know there are lots of folks who watch from outside the gates, but they are missing the huge community party that happens inside the gates. Families with kids, picnics, frisbees, good food, roaming bands of teenagers, geezers and geeks, hippies and freaks, all coming together for fun. And I never tire of watching fireworks, especially those low to the ground ones, that whistle and scream before exploding in a flash of colored light. The music from three different bands got the whole place rockin’ and our tradition of getting the kids on stage to sing the “Purple People Eater” is one of my favorite moments of the whole year.
The Sebastopol Kiwanis Club makes it happen every year. They work their butts off to make a wonderful event for the community and then turn around and distribute the profits to the community. Next year, I encourage everyone to come into the field and support this local service club that keeps on giving every year. It will be money well spent, and you will be happy with your ring-side seat.
Thank you, Kiwanis for another fabulous show.
