Behind the times
Editor: Why I love Sebastopol, Reason #1001:
I live in Santa Rosa, so normally, when I needed an oil filter
for my ‘57 International Harvester, I went to Napa Auto Parts in
Santa Rosa. Thirty minutes, and three salesmen later, they were
unable to find anything. So I go online and discover that their
filter number 1002 will fit. So I call down there to find out if
they have one in stock. “It’s been discontinued! It’s obsolete!”
yells the counterperson into my ear. So I call Napa in Sebastopol,
and discover that there’s two of them in stock. When I ask the
counter person about it, he says: “Obsolete?! Absolutely not! How
many do you need?”
I suggest a new slogan for Sebastopol: Behind the times, and
proud of it!
