Relay for Life
Editor: I am a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. This
year the American Cancer Society Relay For Life for Sebastopol/West
County is July 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday
at Karlson Field at Analy High School. Relay For Life is the
signature event of the American Cancer Society. Teams of friends,
family or coworkers get together and camp out for 24 hours to honor
cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and learn how
everyone can help create a world with more birthdays and less
cancer. Relay For Life is a community event to raise money and
awareness in the fight against cancer. Cancer survivors, caregivers
and members of the community are invited to come out and join us to
have some fun. We will have bands, games, food and other special
events going on throughout the 24 hour event.
For more information contact Laura Moss, community director of
the American Cancer Society at 545-6728 or Alyssa Kutzer, relay
manager at 545-6728 for this West County event.

Robertson still funny
Editor: I just re-upped my subscription to Sonoma West after
having dropped it some years ago.
Simple reason: Frank Robertson is still one of the funniest
columnists I’ve ever read. How does he do it year after year?
Maybe that funny smell in Guernewood Park permanently twisted
his mind and has kept him bent.
I hope so.

Kudos to Kimberly
Editor: As a member of the Sebastopol Community Band, I want to
say “Hats off!” to Kimberly Kaido-Alvarez for her well researched
and very well written article that appeared June 30 in Sonoma West
(“Community Band concert moves to Ives Park”). I think that she did
a good job of conveying that everyone is welcome to the band. You
don’t need to be able to attend every rehearsal or performance; all
you need is an instrument and the desire to have fun.
