With our sincere thanks
Editor:
My wife Melinda and I would like to give our sincere thanks to everyone who supported our Veterans Appreciation Day 2015. We would like to give special thanks to Richard Price, Fred Kramer, Merle Reuser and Berry Blackmon.
Melinda and I hope that everyone enjoyed our memorial for all the veterans that served our country and had a wonderful time. Hopefully, we can continue to have this event to appreciate our veterans every year.

Christmas in June
Editor:
Can you believe it is that time again? Christmas is almost here! Yes, Christmas in June benefitting the Cloverdale Food Pantry is around the corner. Plan now to help us this year. The Cloverdale community, the Lions, Good Shepherd Church, other organizations, as well as so many of our great neighbors, stepped up last year to make this event a success. Let’s make this year even better.
During summer months, the Cloverdale Food Pantry supplies are dramatically depleted. To cover the shortage, the pantry has to purchase most of the food — except the fruits and vegetables gleaned by gardeners who donate their excess. The food purchased is between $300 – 500 a month, but during the summer monthly costs jump to $500 – 800, and sometimes more. This puts a dent in the pantry’s meager bank account.
The 3rd Annual Christmas in June event will be held at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 205 W. First Street on Thursday, June 25 from 5 – 7 p.m. Refreshments and appetizers will be served. There will be community activities to help the Food Pantry as well.
You are asking how you can help. There are many ways, including: bringing 20 lb. bags of rice, beans and canned food, such as vegetables, tuna and peanut butter, donating appetizers or refreshments, such as bottled water, for the event, a financial donation, which helps defray the pantry’s expenses, bringing yummy homemade cookies for the cookie exchange and attending and supporting the event.
Please contact the Food Pantry at 396-8383 with questions and how you and your organization can help. Please help make hunger take a holiday.

It’s about the roads
Editor:
Our county’s roads are in need of repair. Our elected officials have given us a plan whereby we can address this issue. To some, this plan seems full of deceit and misinformation.
The fact remains that when we — the voters — approved similar measures, such as open space and our rail line. Those results have been successful. Granted, we don’t have a rail line to Cloverdale yet, but we will and we will love it. We do have some of the most spectacular publicly owned open space in the state. Now is the time we — the voters — can step forward and repair our roads. We — the voters — own the roads, we use the roads and we need to take care of them. One must ask those who oppose this plan if they are going to repair the roads? Are the anti-tax people going to fix the roads? Is the publisher of The Reveille going to repair the roads? Who will fix the roads? Our supervisors have given us the opportunity the start the process. If they fail to spend the funds for roads, they could be hitting the road come election time. I have cast my ballot in the affirmative and I would encourage all concerned citizens to do the same. It is our civic duty.
