Vintage Oaks praise
Editor: I am writing in regards to the improved housing plans in Windsor. The Vintage Oaks on the Town Green housing project, which last year seemed headed towards a downward spiral, has been reinvented and drastically improved. Some of the hot-button issues in their previous proposal for 387 townhomes included access issues for police officers, firefighters and ambulances in case of an emergency; the removal of numerous oak trees to make way for the townhome buildings; and parking that could force residents and their guests onto Old Redwood Highway or spots intended for Town Green business customers.
Since that time, they’ve turned the tables, and seem to have hit these old issues out of the park to deliver a solid proposal for more housing in Windsor. Access has been improved to accommodate public safety officials; nearly 50 more oak trees will be saved; and it seems that there will be plenty of parking for the residents and guests of the housing development to avoid utilizing spaces meant for Town Green and Oliver’s Market shoppers.
I applaud the developers proposing this project for listening to the community’s concerns and taking these issues to heart by redesigning this project, and I cannot wait to see it (and Oliver’s) improve the vitality of the area and northern part of the Town Green.
