Volunteer needed
Editor: After seven years volunteering as an Animal Assisted Therapist at Cloverdale Healthcare Center, I have to retire and need a volunteer to replace me. I have been visiting the center regularly with three generations of loving pets. I recently moved my mother to assisted living nearby, and the dogs and I will be busy with her new friends at her center.
I will be happy to introduce and train the new volunteer and their pet. The Cloverdale Healthcare Center is a wonderful facility right above town on Cherry Creek Rd., and the residents love the pet visits. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to give back, in a simple loving way.
30 years ago I read a similar story in my local paper, the Newport Daily News (RI), where a woman was retiring from volunteering at the handicapped center after 12 years. I answered her ad, and remained at that handicapped center for 15 years, and when I moved to California continued. Now, almost 30 years later, I still love visiting, and hope someone else will discover this simple, loving service. Please consider volunteering, it’s such a simple way to bring joy; “Where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy …”
