Hospital volunteers seek support
Editor: The Healdsburg community has always given wonderful support to the Healdsburg District Hospital. We are now seeking support for the Healdsburg Hospital Volunteers. Illness, family concerns, job opportunities have depleted our volunteer numbers. Because we are dedicated to helping the staff maintain caring and efficient service to our patients we must have more members to carry that out effectively.
Each volunteer serves on the floor a minimum of four hours every two weeks. An orientation period prepares men and women for the services we offer. We also raise funds for scholarships in the medical field through the gift shop, bake sales and our dues.
Please help us celebrate our 40th year by signing up. Phone the hospital at 431-6500 and ask for the gift shop. A volunteer will be happy to answer questions and offer you an application. Or just drop in. We’ll be glad to see you.
You will never be more appreciated.

President, Healdsburg Hospital Volunteers

No Science Fair next year?
Editor: We recently completed another successful Science Fair. Almost 700 students from 10 area schools participated in either the hands on fair, Rube Goldberg machine competition, or conducted a Life or Physical Science project. Thanks to all who helped organize and work the fair this year, as well as our generous donors. This cherished event is put on entirely by volunteers and funded by donations. Several committee members are retiring and we need to replace these individuals in order to have a fair next year. With several spots to fill on the committee, we probably have one to fit your skills and interest. I have been involved with the fair for over 20 years. It is a very rewarding experience to provide this opportunity for students and see the work they are capable of.
If you want to see the Science Fair continue, please seriously consider helping in some capacity. I can be reached at 707-477-7922.
