Truly lucky
EDITOR: My wife Jane and I have lived in Cloverdale for almost 30 years and raised our family here. So we do consider ourselves “kinda” locals. Over these past 30 years we have attended and participated in many of the various fundraisers for our local nonprofits and enjoyed each and everyone of them. As the demographic in the community changes, the fundraisers, events and galas are evolving to satisfy the old, the new and younger generations.
And quite frankly, it is exciting. Most of our traditional events, the Citrus Fair, various crab and pasta feeds, dances, car shows etc. continue with their heritage and are enhancing their events to accommodate the new and the younger generations. Thank you to all of the volunteers and organizations that sustain these events for Cloverdale. One new gala fundraiser that is knocking it out of the park is the Alexander Valley Film Society’s, Red Carpet Oscar Night.
Kathryn Hecht and her board of directors, along with Marne Dupree have turned local landmarks into fabulous venues for cocktails and over the top food for this marquee event. 2017 was no exception to their magical wonder. So thank you Kathryn and team and all of the Cloverdalian volunteers that work hard to provide us with wonderful events, fundraisers and galas in support of our community. We are truly lucky.
