Eat out for Jazz
Editor: We are writing to encourage your readers to participate in one of this year’s best mixes of wine, food and music when the fourth annual Jazz on the Menu takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Healdsburg and Geyserville. It’s a perfect opportunity for locals and visitors to explore any one of 10 participating restaurants while supporting the highly successful Healdsburg Jazz Festival Music Education Program. Participating restaurants donate 25 percent of their sales to the HJF music education fund.
Over 30 musicians in small jazz ensembles will be playing at the restaurants between 6 and 9 p.m., with hundreds of dining couples and groups turning out for the benefit. The dining room vibes and conversations are all very jazzy. It’s easy, fun and enjoyable to join the evening festivities, just make dinner reservations at any of the 10 participating restaurants and show up to eat, drink and be cool. Capping the evening is the after party at Costeaux French Bakery, 417 Healdsburg Ave., from 7:30-10:30 p.m., featuring the Ricard Peixoto Quintet playing a mix of Brazilian and jazz standards. The Healdsburg High School Jazz Band is the opening band. Tickets to the after party are $15, and they usually sell out quickly. More details, including participating restaurants and bands and after party tickets, are available at www.healdsburgjazzfestival.org.
