Thank you, elves
Editor: We continue to hear many comments about the
holidays…even the choice of words to describe “The Holidays.” I’ve
found that no matter where you stand or what you believe, the true
meaning can be found in the myriad of ways the “Holiday Spirit” is
manifested.
On Dec. 23 just before we were ready to close the Senior Center
for Christmas, we were visited by a number of elves. They didn’t
identify themselves, just shyly told us that they had been selling
mistletoe and wanted to donate 20 percent of their profits to us.
In addition, they had a big tray of nuts and fresh baked cookies
for the seniors. We were closed until after Christmas so the
cookies went to the Sunrise Rotary Club’s Holiday Dinner … and the
donation of $33.44 is one of the most meaningful gifts the
Sebastopol Area Senior Center has ever received. Thanks to our new
friends and to Sebastopol and West County for the tremendous
support you give us year round.

Inquiring mind in Graton
EDITOR: In a brief response as Graton’s designated naysayer and
an actively involved community member, I offer my most humble
apologies to everyone.
How erroneous of me to assume that costs of the proposed park
project would hover anywhere near my stated $2 million price
tag.
But, wait a moment. Is there a complete budget? And, if one
exists, where is it?
$200,000 in a matching grant, sounds great. But, what does that
sum represent?
Inquiring minds need to know – how about you?
Let it be noted, I enthusiastically support the idea of a park
in Graton. I heartily applaud Ms. D’Lil and the Graton Green Group
in their efforts.
However, it is critically important that our community be fully
informed insofar as the actual cost of this endeavor.
Ms. D’Lil, do the right thing.
