Potholes
Editor: Twas the night before Christmas and all through River’s Bend the residents were steering to avoid potholes that plague our streets again!
Fellow Healdsburg citizens take a drive to our 55+ neighborhood and turn down Balsam Drive. The potholes that were there last year and the years before are getting bigger again. Yes, there have been token efforts to fill a hole now and then but with the next rainy season they re-appear. Our neighborhood was designed with no sidewalks so residents must walk on the side of the roadway and often into the street to avoid the hole hazards and injury. Â
The elections are over… promises made… new taxes approved and the rains are here. Time to repair all the city streets properly!  Over the years residents have sent petitions and letters to the City. We have made calls to Public Works Directors and Senior Civil Engineers to no avail. The roads are still a mess.
As the song goes – Grandma may have been run over by a reindeer… but at River’s Bend our seniors could be lost in a pothole…. Or certainly risk injury attempting to navigate our dangerous streets.

My apologies
Editor: Please publish this as a letter of public apology to the staff and volunteers of the Healdsburg Animal Shelter (HAS), and to the community of Healdsburg, for my attitude and conduct as Vet Tech of HAS.
In a recent employment review conducted by Bill Anderson, Chairperson of HAS Board of Directors, Mr. Anderson informed me that EVERYONE employed at HAS finds me too rude and too arrogant to work with. This, of course, is very troubling and extremely embarrassing. The wonderful and talented staff at HAS is under enough stress and pressure as is. To then subject them to my rude, arrogant character (on a daily basis), well, that’s completely unacceptable to me. Therefore, I have resigned as Vet Tech of HAS.
I truly hope HAS, its volunteers and the community can forgive me. Through my tenure at HAS, I’m sure many of you who met me were also alienated by my rude, arrogant character! Again, for that, I apologize.
My job at HAS was to take care of its animals, and to take care of the community’s animals should they pass through our doors. Although, according to Mr. Anderson, I did my job very well, it seems I did so at the expense of HAS employees, its volunteers and the community around me.
The animals (and staff) at HAS desperately need your support. If my character has influenced anyone to withhold donations, I sincerely hope that you can dismiss that now, and resume donating to HAS.

A beautiful day
Editor: A mild summer is come and gone.
The harvest is complete.
The wineries are full.
The leaves have turned.
And the rains are back.
It’s a beautiful day in Healdsburg.
