Delighted by philharmonia
Editor: Geri and I attended a Philharmonia Healdsburg concert at the Raven Theater at 2 p.m. Sunday the 16th and were delighted to be bowled over by what we felt to be the one of the best experiences at the Raven we have attended for years. Though Stravinsky is not a favorite of ours, the two pieces were not only fun and refreshing but extremely well executed. “The Soldier’s Tale” is seldom performed and difficult to produce; incorporating a seven instrument orchestra and a cast of four individuals, including a ballet dancer that was exciting to watch and perfection in execution. Les Pfutzenreuter is to be applauded and was that afternoon. The only disappointing element was how few of us were there. It was certainly less than 25 percent of the seating available.  Too bad for those who missed out!

Thanks to Healdsburg Hospital
Editor: Last weekend my mother bounced down a few steps and broke her hip. The team at Healdsburg District Hospital needs to be applauded. Her doctors, Dr. Correa, Dr. Sybert, Dr. Nguyen, and Dr. Bolinger were caring, smart, kept us constantly informed during her stay, and provided expert care.  Now, while all the nurses were terrific, modern medicine should clone Bryan Antonich, her ICU nurse. He was helpful, passionate about his profession, kept us informed of her treatment, and somehow was able to calm us with the correct comment at the right time. Finally, walking through the halls, or leaning against a wall, HDH reminded us of Disneyland where everyone has a smile on his or her face, where everyone asks how you’re doing, and where everyone goes out of his or her way to welcome you and make your stay as pleasant as possible.  Thank you.

More enforcement
Editor: Kudos to Gary Miksis for his letter providing worthwhile suggestions for actions our City Council might take to deal with some of the more annoying, to say nothing of dangerous, behaviors we witness daily.
As long we’re on the subject, how about a mandatory refresher course for licensed drivers on the “yield right” protocol for negotiating four-way stop intersections.
And another on how to back out of a parking lot space without placing lives and vehicles in jeopardy.
And more enforcement of the high back chairs ban in the Plaza during Tuesday concerts.
Any, and especially all, of the above would make living in our marvelous village even more enjoyable than it already is.
