We heard you
Editor: To the students of Cloverdale High School – we heard you. As you walked out of school in protest, you spoke so eloquently, so fervently and so hopefully about your needs, your fears and your hopes. You heard about peaceful protests and decided you could make a difference. Some in our community did not listen, but we heard you. As we started our run for the school board, we did it because of you. Reluctant politicians, we were, but feeling we could do no less than you.
As we met with teachers, parents and the community, we began to realize that running in this election was a necessity, not a luxury. We heard angry voices, sad voices and disappointed voices. We learned that facilities needed repair, that teachers were frustrated and felt they had no voice and from the community we heard of missed opportunities for our schools.
We went to meet and greets where there were no parents, just people in the community who cared and who were willing to contribute. We heard them. Thanks to you, we will all be part of the school board. As we face our terms as school board members, we are humbled by your faith and that of your parents, teachers, and the community. We may make mistakes and we may have to make hard decisions, but we can vow to you that it will not be for lack of listening, because we heard you.

Be more attentive
Editor: It doesn’t speak too highly of Cloverdale city government when they are surprised about residency requirements at the apartment complex being built in town. That’s something one would consider rather important. I suppose the field worker requirement is based on where the money came from, but it still strikes me as rather discriminatory. Hopefully our city officials will be a little more attentive in the future.

Crafter thanks
Editor: The Cloverdale Theta Zeta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Friends would like to thank all the people who attended our annual Holiday Craft Fair on Nov. 5 and all who bought raffle tickets. Your attendance and your purchases have again made our show a success. We would also like to thank the Cloverdale Reveille, the Healdsburg Tribune, The Gazette, and Mary Jo Winter for their continued support in printing our letters and blurbs about the event in their papers. Thanks again to Ray’s for providing space for our raffle ticket sales table and to the merchants who let us post our flyers in their windows. We hope everyone enjoyed the event and we look forward to seeing you at next years Sorority Holiday Craft Fair.

Thanks, Ron
Editor: I want to publicly thank Ron Pavelka for not only all he does through out the year for our wonderful town, but also for the generous donation he made possible for the Cloverdale High School Rotary Interact Club. The funds made available to us through Ron’s kindness will enable the Rotary Interact Club to continue providing a positive and beneficial environment to the various projects, both nationally and internationally, that the club supports. This is once again just another wonderful example of how great our city is. Thanks, Ron. Most appreciated,
