Excessive engine noise
Editor:Â Â
I am going to have to agree with the previous complaints about the week-end airplane engine noise. There are some small planes that come and go in a few seconds and create a mild engine noise. Then there are the small planes with a loud whining sound that goes on for a much longer time and off and on all day on the week-ends. That noise really disturbs my peace and I live near the high school away from the airport. A few weeks ago a group was meeting at the Community Garden Oasis in a circle about 10 feet across and we had to stop talking and wait for the plane to move on as the noise was so loud. Do we really have to endure that noise intrusion in an otherwise quiet community?

Not the time or place for spooky overtones
Editor:Â Â
With reference to two articles that you published in the Oct. 30, 2014 issue, I must express my disappointment in the poor taste displayed. The “Spooky cemetery tour” does nothing to display respect and recognition of sacredness that should be expressed when visiting a cemetery. Halloween is not the time or place to take a “tour” with characters such as “Gravedigger Tom” speaking about, among other things, “ghosts” and causes of death for our descendants. Some of that information is not to be shared. It is personal and private.
The time to visit a cemetery is any other time when the intention is to show respect and honor for our loved ones who have been laid to rest for eternity.
Further, to actually make money from such a crass event is offensive.
Secondly, the “Forthright and Female” series presented by the Cloverdale History Center featuring Edna Cobb Gordon was also in shoddy taste. I had looked forward to attending the Nov. 4 presentation until I learned from reading in the Reveille that the contents of the funeral records she kept would be sensationalized. Where is common sense and professionalism? “Creepy overtones?” This part of Ms. Gordon’s work was never intended to be made into vulgar entertainment lacking in any refinement.
It’s morally objectionable to benefit financially from something that was presented, in part, in such an utterly unnecessary way.

Pick up your trash
Editor:Â Â
To the person or persons leaving glass bottles along the side of the road:
I hope that today someone is kind to you and makes you smile. And then I hope you will walk a few steps to place your trash and recyclables into the appropriate receptacle.
I hope you will look up and see the beauty of the hills, a sunset, the stars, or children at play. And then I hope you will walk a few steps to place your trash and recyclables into the appropriate receptacle.
If you have a car, or if you ever have a car, I hope that you never have a tire destroyed by rubbish on the road. And I hope you will walk a few steps to place your trash and recyclables into the appropriate receptacle.

Craft show a success
Editor:Â Â
The Cloverdale Craft Show committee would like to thank the Cloverdale Reveille, specifically Paula Wrenn and Neena Hanchett, and Mary Jo Winter, Santa Rosa P.D. correspondent, for their help in getting the information out to the public about our craft show this past Saturday, Nov. 1.
A special thank you also to all the people who came and helped make it the success it was.
We also want to thank the set up and take down crew, you know who you are, and with out your help, it would have been a very difficult task for us to do.
Theta Zeta’s luncheon was a big hit as well as all the wonderful gift baskets and we look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Kiwanis crab feed
Editor:Â Â
I love Dungeness crab and what better way to get my fill of the yummy crustacean than at the Kiwanis Crab Feed. I can feast on cold cracked crab, pasta, salad dessert, wine and beer. So on Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. I will be at the Citrus Fair with my ticket in hand ready to dive in. This gala event can be enjoyed for $50 per person and tickets can be purchased from Kiwanis members, at the Mail Center or on line at Kiwanis Club of Cloverdale/ Crab Feed. See you there!
