Put away your toys
EDITOR: Following up on the two excellent Dec. 31 letters to the editor regarding the Palm Drive Hospital, I have one additional question, which I have yet to see addressed. My question starts from the premise that most of us were taught to put away our toys before starting to play with others.
When the Palm Drive Health Care District went bankrupt in 2014, it left unpaid a large number of persons including most, if not all, of its staff. When are those employees, and the other creditors who advanced goods and services to Palm Drive going to be paid? Using district assets to reopen Palm Drive Hospital before paying those employees and other creditors seems to me to effectively be asking them to finance the reopening of the hospital before getting paid. That seems both unfair and almost immoral.
Could either the Health Care District or the “unrelated” Sonoma West Medical Center please speak to this issue?
